The All India United Christians Movement for Equal Rights organized an All India Consultation. The meeting began Saturday 26th October at 3.30 pm at St. Patrick’s high School, Secunderabad. The main person for the meeting was Bro. Jose Daniel, of Montfort Brothers, who has long years of working experience in this Association.

Bro. Jose was chairing the meeting while Sr. Manju C.M. was Co-ordinating the whole programme. There were various eminent speakers speaking on various topics and how the problem of the equal rights for the dalit Christians is pending on over many years. Everyone highlighted on the problem saying, “End discrimination based on religion, change of religion doesn’t change castes or caste disabilities”.

Though Bro Jose is working for the dalits for the past 42 years he finds that no continuous and united efforts are taken for dalit Christians. He spoke about the Mission Manifesto of Jesus (Lk.4:18) that He was send to proclaim the Good News to all. Again he quoted the Bible saying, the Lord God says to this people, “I have heard your cry. I come to wipe your tears’.

Fr. Bosco one of the active members of the Association also spoke saying, “Jesus Christ fought for the poor people’s rights. We are His followers. So we have to stand for the poor especially for the dalit Christians. He also spoke about how the various Government parties help us etc. Finally there was the sharing of the Action Plan by some speakers and the meeting was concluded at about 6.30 pm.

The people of various denominations took part in the programme. There was about hundred people present taking active part in the programme. We were also invited to attend this meeting and it was a very enriching experience to come to know the history and the process of this movement.
